Resilience as a Way of Being

The Cambridge Dictionary defines RESILIENT as “able to be happy, successful, etc. again after something difficult or bad has happened.” It’s defined as perseverance in the face of adversity. The ability to adapt in difficult situations.

I invite you to consider the idea of resilience as a way of being, rather than something you are when you’ve endured hardship, or as a response to adversity. Why can’t resilience just mean that you have the ability to navigate life and what it’s throwing at you seamlessly?

When you’re living a life that’s in alignment with your Heart Compass®, a life where you’re intentionally choosing how you show up energetically, you’re practicing self-care, you have a strong social network, and a spiritual practice, you’re not only able to pivot seamlessly, you may not even see adversity or difficult situations as such. Imagine, if all you saw were opportunities…

The cost of being a victim to adversity and difficult times can be high… decision making can be compromised, it can lead to high levels of stress and everything that comes with that, including coronary heart disease. It can lead you to be immunocompromised. You could be leading with fear, blame or judgment, spinning, stuck and unproductive, or maybe even your relationships are suffering.

Or maybe you and your team are doing just fine, but you’d like to consider doing life, work and leadership better.
